Meet other young musicians who love playing piano, and make music together at Piano Camp!
As pianists, we often practice and perform alone. In this camp, you'll explore collaborating and playing with other musicians while learning to share ideas and interpretations. Campers work together on repertoire throughout the week, and perform duets and solos for their family and friends at the end of the week.
Led by a fun and enthusiastic teacher, this course will push your piano playing to its next level!
This one-week camp wraps up with a presentation for family and friends on the final Friday afternoon of camp. Further details on this presentation will be provided in camp welcome emails.
Prerequisite: Student should be able to play at RCM Level 2 at minimum, and be able to read music fluently and play hands together. This camp is appropriate to players between RCM Level 2 and 5. If you're not sure of your playing level, please talk to your teacher or consult our Celebration Series, Sixth Edition: Piano Sampler to see excerpts of piano pieces for Levels 2, 3, 4, and 5.
All of our day camps take place at The Royal Conservatory, 273 Bloor Street West, in Downtown Toronto. Campers will have opportunities to spend time outside (weather permitting) and often take music related field trips to locations such as the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), the Edward Johnson Building (University of Toronto Faculty of Music), or jazz performances in Yorkville.
Detailed instructions on what to bring will be sent in your camp welcome email, but please plan to bring a nut-free lunch and snacks, a water bottle, indoor shoes and outdoor shoes, season/weather appropriate clothing, and a change of clothes.
Piano Camp requires a minimum proficiency of Level 2 RCM Certificate Program. If you are studying a different curriculum, please consult the Piano Syllabus, 2022 Edition to confirm your playing level.
Learning will take place in our Piano Lab and in a group class environoment. While campers will not be enrolled in private lessons or receive 1:1 musical instrument instruction, there will be some individual coaching offered by the instructor during their time at camp.
If you are interested in registering for private lessons at The Oscar Peterson School, please visit our website, or book a counselling call with our Registration Team to learn more about other programming options.
Last-minute absences from the camp due to medical reasons may be considered on a case-by-case basis. All early and after care fees are non-refundable. Please refer to our withdrawal policies for detailed information.
