Nofar Yacobi (2018-19 Rebanks Fellow, soprano) appeared as the Queen of the Night in the Israeli Opera’s Magic Flute, a co-production with Komische Oper Berlin. The Jerusalem Post called the production “highly entertaining and visually gorgeous…one of the most exciting, and talked about, productions of the Israeli Opera this season.”
A cancelled San Francisco Symphony concert was saved when Jan Lisiecki (PDP ’18, piano), scheduled to perform Beethoven’s Concerto No. 4, ended up presenting an impromptu one-hour solo concert.
Adrianne Pieczonka (Vocal Chair) is featured on the National Arts Centre Orchestra’s recording “Clara - Robert - Johannes: Lyrical Echoes”, performing Clara Schumann’s 6 Lieder, Op. 13 (released in December 2021) with collaborative pianist Liz Upchurch.
Dr. Joel Katz (Voice faculty) was a co-author of the article “Optimizing song retention through the spacing effect”, which recently appeared in the journal Cognitive Research: Principles and Implications. This article examined the improvement in memory retention for words and music in song learned over a series of sessions.
During the most recent induction ceremony for Canada’s Walk of Fame, actor Keanu Reeves very publicly thanked Tom Diamond (Operatic Acting/Vocal Stagecraft faculty) for giving him several important acting opportunities during his early training.
