Welcome! This page is specifically for those who have been given an offer of admission for the 2024-25 academic year at The Glenn Gould School! You are amongst a very select group of individuals as the competition for spots at GGS (as we call it) was fierce this year ... the quality of candidates has never been so high.

In addition to the message from our Dean, James Anagnoson, you will also find additional information about our Orchestra, Piano, and Voice programs and messages from its faculty, respectively: Associate Dean Barry Shiffman, Dean James Anagnoson, and Vocal Chair Adrianne Pieczonka. Feel free to explore all of the messages to get a feel for our school, our dedicated faculty who are committed to the personal and professional development of each of their students, and a look "behind the scenes" at life at GGS!

Should you have ANY questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to LaLa Lee, GGS Admissions and Student Services Coordinator - she is happy to help!

We hope to receive your acceptance soon and to seeing you in our beautiful school in Toronto, Canada's largest and most culturally diverse city, this Fall!

A Message from Dean James Anagnoson

  • ORCHESTRA: The Temerty Orchestral Program

    The Temerty Orchestral Program

The Glenn Gould School’s Royal Conservatory Orchestra (RCO), part of the Temerty Orchestra Program, is widely regarded as one of the best training orchestras in North America. The RCO consists of all instrumental students in the undergraduate and graduate programs of The Glenn Gould School so if you join us, you will be performing in the RCO's first concert of the year in acclaimed Koerner Hall on October 11, 2024 with Tania Miller.

Watch GGS Associate Dean ahttps://www.rcmusic.com/events-and-performances/tania-miller-conducts-the-royal-conservatory-o-(5)nd Director of the Chamber Music, Barry Shiffman (also a member of the Strings faculty), talk about why you should join GGS this Fall.  Orchestral music is a big part of the program because the orchestra is at the cornerstone of the GGS community. During orchestra performance week, we cancel classes and lessons so you can focus on delivering your best performance on concert night in front of a passionate audience who enthusiastically support every RCO performance. In total, there will be four RCO performances in Koerner Hall in the 24/25 calendar year, and students will also have the opportunity to participate in several masterclasses with members of visiting international orchestras and performers while they are in Toronto to play at Koerner Hall. We hope you will join us!

  • PIANO: The Ihnatowycz Piano Program

    The Ihnatowycz Piano Program

Learn more about what makes this program so special! Dean James Anagnoson, who is also a member of the piano faculty, talks about:

    • the wonderful facilities located at the school including Koerner Hall
    • our outstanding head piano technician, Damon Groves, who takes exceptional care of the over 100 pianos on-site including our new Hamburg Steinway
    • the 90 minutes of individual instruction a week
    • the camaraderie and community that exists amongst the faculty and students
    • our extraordinary master class program where you might play for distinguished artists and teachers such as Richard Goode, Anton Nel, John Perry, John O'Conor, and the Ihnatowycz Chair in Piano, Jeremy Denk.

There are only about 20 students total in this program which means you won't get lost.

  • VOICE: Vocal Studies and the Price Opera Program

Vocal Studies and the Price Opera Program

Under the leadership of Vocal Chair and Head of the Vocal Department, Adrianne Pieczonka, students participate in opera productions, master classes, and vocal showcases. Each student receives 90 minutes of individual instruction per week - more than many other post-secondary institutions - with nurturing, expert faculty.  You will work with some of the best collaborative pianists in the industry and first-year students also have the opportunity to perform for acclaimed master class artists - already confirmed for 2023-24 are: Edith Wiens, Ema Nikolovska, and Grant Gershon! Our 2023 Spring Opera (Flight by Jonathan Dove) received rave reviews and built upon the success of our 2022 production. The plan for 2024 is to continue the momentum and we hope you will be part of it!
