Svadba: A Chamber Opera

Sung in Serbian, this tour de force a cappella work by Ana Sokolović, was performed by students of the Price Opera Program of The Glenn Gould School (GGS) on November 5 and 6, 2021.

“The music is rhythmically very complex,” says Adrienne Pieczonka, Vocal Chair and Head of the Vocal Department at GGS, noting the hard work the opera demands of its singers – from whispering to combining opera singing with Balkan folk singing, “The cast is outstanding and are really embracing this bold and challenging work.” Learn more about the Opera here.
